Overview
This article shares the process of changing the number of retries and their delay settings for sending faxes in GFI FaxMaker.
Note: If looking for logging or evidence of retries in the send log please review the Does FaxMaker Log Failed Attempts or Just the Successful End Result? article.
Environment
Any FaxMaker installation
Solution
- Go to Start > Programs > GFI FaxMaker.
- Open GFI FaxMaker Configuration.
- Navigate to Lines/Devices, right-click, and select Properties.
- On the General tab, select the intended sending line (to edit), and click on the Properties.... button.
- On the Line options tab:
- Edit the Number of retries variable to the intended retry setting. A value of 0 will not retry the fax and the transmission report will be immediately sent if the fails for any reason.
- Edit the retry delay variable to the number of seconds you would like FaxMaker to wait to send a retry when a busy tone is received when attempting to send a fax. Example: 300 seconds = 5 minutes.
Note: If three retries are selected, the fax will be attempted four times.
- Edit the Number of retries variable to the intended retry setting. A value of 0 will not retry the fax and the transmission report will be immediately sent if the fails for any reason.
- Click the OK button.
- Repeat this procedure for any other line you would like to change the retry settings for.
- Now, click the OK button under the General tab of Lines/Devices Properties and select OK to restart the FaxMaker Fax Server Service.
- Close GFI FaxMaker Configuration and restart the GFI FaxMaker services for the new changes to take effect.
Confirmation
Once changed, send a fax to a number that is known to fail (for example, a cell phone number), and count the retries before the transmission report is delivered to ensure it is consistent with the settings.
