Overview
GFI FaxMaker allows specifying the recipient fax number in the email fax body where the email itself is addressed to the dedicated mailbox for GFI FaxMaker. This article provides information about specifying the TEXT API commands in the subject field.
Information
Text API commands have to be specified within the first line of the message body of the mail. Alternatively, Text API commands can be specified in the subject field where the Text API commands have to be set in brackets like this [TEXT API]
.
Here an example:
To: <fax@domain>
In the first line of the body of the message:
::number
- Example:
faxmailbox@faxmaker.com
In the first line of the body of the message:
::435345345
or in the subject field of the message:
[::435345345]
- The recipient details can also be included with the fax number. This can be achieved by entering the following in the first line of the body of the message:
::Name.Company.Surname.Department.Faxnumber
Example:::John.ABC.Smith.Sales.3544254
Additional Information
-
This email itself has to be formatted in plain text when using commands in the body of the email. To use formats other than plain text, use the subject of the email to enter the commands.
-
This type of method is used when an email fax request is submitted to a dedicated mailbox for GFI FaxMaker which is polled periodically by the configured POP3 connector of GFI FaxMaker.
-
This method is different than the alias method. Some email clients do not fully support the email alias, and therefore this method or the
<number>@<fax domain>
are preferred. -
It is possible to send a fax to multiple recipients using this method. This can be done by adding a recipient in a new line.
Example:
:: 21392419
::12345678
::0987654321 -
When using this method, it is also possible to use other Text API commands. The commands need to be placed in the lines following the recipient details.
Example:
:: 21392419
::12345678
::0987654321
