Overview
This article provides the steps to install the GFI FaxMaker client on a Terminal Server.
Solution
To properly install the GFI FaxMaker client on a Terminal Server:
- Verify that the GFI FaxMaker Client is installed using “Add/Remove programs” from the console, or via RDP(Remote Desktop Protocol) using a console switch.
- Verify that only one instance of FMStart.exe is running for the test user.
- Verify that the console session is not logged on during testing.
- Test using RDP or Citrix, if RDP does not use console switch to test.
- Delete any existing keys (not values) under: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client\Default\AddIns\RDPDR.
- SYSTEM, Authenticated Users, and Everyone (Everyone in 2000 systems only) need full permission to the following folders including files and subfolders:
- GFI FaxMaker directory.
- GFI FaxMaker client directory.
- \Windows\System32\Spool folder.
- SYSTEM, Authenticated Users, and Everyone (Everyone in 2000 systems only) need full permission to the following registry keys:
- HKCU\Software\classes
- HKCU\Software\GFI FAX & VOICE
- HKLM\SOFTWARE\GFI FAX & VOICE
- Note: If a 64-bit platform, the registry path is: HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432NODE\GFI FAX & VOICE
- HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping
- HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server
- Change the following registry key value: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit from
C:\WINNT\system32\userinit.exe
to:C:\Program Files\GFI\FaxMaker Client\fmstart.exe
(make sure the path to fmstart is correct)- Note: If a 64-bit platform, the path would be: C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\FaxMaker Client\fmstart.exe by default.
- Note: If a 64-bit platform, the path would be: C:\Program Files (x86)\GFI\FaxMaker Client\fmstart.exe by default.
- Go to the following registry key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Sysprocs
- Create a
REG_DWORD
, Value Name:fmstart.exe
, Value Data:0
- Create a
- Go to the following registry key: HKLM\System\CurrentConrtolSet\Control\Citrix\wfshell\TWI
- Create a
REG_SZ
(string), Value Name:LogoffCheckSysModules
, String:fmstart.exe
- Create a
- Reboot.
- If the Outlook form does not open when printing to the FaxMaker Printer, do the following:
- Manually delete the printer from the Printer folder in Windows.
- Restart Print Spooler service.
- In the GFI FaxMaker Client directory, run
fmprinter_install.cmd
. - Reset FaxMaker printer as default printer.
