When sending faxes, coverpage settings can cause the error message, "there is nothing to send in this message", to be returned. This article gives the reasons for this error and how to prevent it.
When sending a fax, the following error is returned:
Error: There is nothing to send in this message
FaxMaker requires either a coverpage or an attachment or both to send a fax. This can happen if coverpages are not enabled and a fax is sent without an attachment or if coverpages are enabled and no data is sent to populate the coverpage and the checkbox "only if message text is present" is selected. Both of these possibilities will be reviewed below.
Coverpages are enabled by default and would have to be manually disabled for this error to occur due to coverpages being disabled. To verify that the Coverpages are being enabled:
- From Programs, open the FaxMaker Configuration
- Expand Coverpages > Select the lower Coverpages > select General Properties and the Coverpage Options dialogue box appears
- Confirm if the Send Coverpages is checked. We can see this in the screenshot below.
- If Coverpages are enabled then deselect the check-box next to Only if message text is present. This selection requires that something in the body of the coverpage must be present in order to send the coverpage. This would include when sending a fax from email, the information typed in the message body or when sending using an API, the bdy file sent. Both of these examples would put information on the coverpage. With this selection enabled, without this information, the coverpage would not be sent. If there were no attachment, the fax would return the error listed in the Diagnosis section.
GFI FaxMaker sends the fax successfully after the Coverpages configuration is properly configured.
