Overview
This article provides information about the FaxMaker user management system and its interaction with multiple domains and use with FaxMaker.
Environment
Any FaxMaker installation in an Active Directory environment.
Information
FaxMaker uses the service account (GFI FaxMaker Faxserver) and its permissions to be able to access the domain and the Active Directory in that domain. Using those domain permissions, FaxMaker allows you to create licensed users from multiple domains, as long the domains belong to the same forest and are in a parent-child relationship. The service account would have to be in the parent domain to have access to both the parent and the child domain.
Possible workarounds
- In some environments where the customer was migrating from one domain to another, and the users were duplicated in each domain, full access rights could be given to a user in the new domain for their account in the old domain. This allowed the user in the new domain to send as the user in the old domain as well as receive the emails for the user in the old domain.
- FaxMaker also has more options for customers who own an unlimited user license. Please see the additional user options for Faxmaker unlimited user licenses article. This would allow sending from any user regardless of the domain.
