Overview
This article provides the steps on how to automatically print faxes upon receipt. This article can also be used to disable the automatic printing of incoming faxes by ensuring the locations in the steps below are not enabled.
Environment
Any FaxMaker installation.
Solution
Installing the printers
The first step is to ensure the printers you want to print to are set up and installed on the fax server in Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Next, the printers will need to be added to FaxMaker.
- From Programs open the FaxMaker Configuration.
- In the left pane expand Advanced and select Printers.
- Select New and type the name of the printer you would like to use. This can be renamed at any time in the printer properties dialogue box on the options tab.
- On the General tab, select the paper sizes to print to the printer in the Automatically fit to: dropdown box.
- On the Page settings box, you will see a small box with an ellipsis on it. Select this and select the printer from the list of installed printers on the FaxMaker server.
- Do this for each valid page setting required.
Enabling autoprinting of incoming faxes can be done in two ways:
Enabling Autopringing from Lines and Devices
When enabling Autoprinting from Lines and devices you are enabling all faxes received on one line to be printed to one printer. This means if faxes on this line are meant for different individual users, they will all go to the same printer.
- From Programs open the FaxMaker Configuration.
- From the left pane select Lines and Devices.
- Select the line on which you would like autoprinting enabled and select properties.
- Select the Advanced tab
- The first selection on the advanced tab is for autoprinting. Select the check box to enable autoprinting. If the printer selection box does not pop-up, select the setup printers button to select the correct printer.
- When complete, select OK. Repeat steps 3 through 6 on each line in which you would like to enable autoprinting.
- When all lines are complete, select OK and select Yes to the pop-up requesting to restart the FaxMaker Fax Server Service.
Enabling Autoprinting from Routing Rules
Autoprinting from specific routing rules means you will only be printing specific faxes. For example, if using line routing, then autoprinting will be just like using the previous method as all faxes received on a specific line will be printed to a specific printer. But if using DTMF/DID any of the other routing types, as they can be more specific with the recipient of the fax, you can select different printers for each individual rule for the receiving user or group. For example, faxes going to a specific DID are for Human Resources. These faxes can be printed on the Human Resources printer.
- From Programs open the FaxMaker Configuration.
- In the left pane, expand the Routing node.
- Select the routing method you are using, select a routing rule.
To find the routing method that is being used, review the Faxes are not Routed to the Correct Recipient article and review the first steps (Verifying the Routing Method Used in your Environment) under the heading Solution. - When the routing rule properties box opens, select the Printers tab.
- Select the check-box next to Enable fax auto-printing and select the desired printer from the Select printer dropdown box.
- Select OK.
Confirmation
Incoming faxes, per your requirements, should now be printed automatically upon receipt.
