Overview
When it is time to consider your FaxMaker license renewal, determining how many users to license can be a big question. This article will help you determine the number of users that are actually using the current system so that you can make a more accurate decision about licensing.
Information
Your decision on how many licensed users are needed will ultimately be determined by your company management's decision about who will use the system. This article is only for reviewing the current users' activity to aid in estimating the optimal number of users for renewal.
Process
Please follow the steps below to review the current users in the FaxMaker system and their use of FaxMaker.
- On the FaxMaker server, navigate to the FaxMaker logs folder:
- Default location:
C:\Program Files(x86)\GFI\FaxMaker\logs
.
- Default location:
- Find the file sendlog.fmlogger.txt and open it in a text editor.
- Select "Save as" and save the file in .csv format.
- Once the file is saved in .csv format, open it in Microsoft Excel.
- In Microsoft Excel, you can sort/filter by user and review the dates and times FaxMaker was used by a particular user.
-
You can also search for specific users using the "Find and Select" feature in Excel to see how frequently or how recently they used FaxMaker.
-
Supplementary Information
Any user that has not used FaxMaker in some time, or that uses FaxMaker irregularly, could be a candidate for removal, leading to a decrease in users for renewal licensing. Also, for groups of users (for example, the Human Resources team), specific users could be designated to do the faxing for the whole group. These types of decisions will be made by company management.
