Overview
Transmission failures can occur for a number of reasons depending on the device type and communication error. They can be encountered when a fax is sent or received.
Among the most common transmission errors, we have:
- Call Failed: 46- quite generic, can be related to a variety of underlying causes.
- Handshaking Error: 54 - includes failures to send a fax to a specific number, aborted faxes, and modem timeouts.
- No dialtone detected: 45 - shown when sending faxes, usually during initial setup, after an upgrade, migration, or IP address changes.
- Busy tone detected: 39 - shown on one of the lines when sending faxes.
- Unknown error: 3 - not restricted to, but more common with FoIP and Brooktrout devices.
