Overview
By default, GFI FaxMaker uses the SMTP port (TCP Port 25) to receive email fax requests and to upload fax transmission reports. In certain scenarios, Microsoft Windows firewall can be configured to block such TCP connection, therefore outbound and inbound faxes will not be received by GFI FaxMaker. This article provides the steps to configure the Microsoft Windows Firewall to allow users to send faxes.
Process
Follow the steps below to create a firewall exception to allow such TCP connection.
-
Login to the GFI FaxMaker server with administrative credentials.
-
Open the Control Panel and select 'Windows Firewall'.
-
Click on the Exceptions tab.
-
Click on Add Port.
-
Enter a name for this exception such as
GFI FAXmaker
-
Under the port number enter
25
and ensure that TCP is selected. -
Click OK to save changes.
-
Ensure that the new exception created is checked under Programs and Services.
-
Click 'OK' to close the configuration
[Note: If any other third party firewall is running on the GFI FaxMaker server, ensure that an exception is made on the firewall to allow connections on port TCP 25
to the GFI FaxMaker server from the machines of licensed GFI FaxMaker users.]
