Overview
This article provides the steps to configure the GFI Faxmaker to access the public contacts on a Microsoft Exchange Server.
Prerequisites
A MAPI profile is required to access the Public Contacts folder on a Microsoft Exchange Server when using Exchange 2003/2007.
Note: You should not install Microsoft Outlook on the same machine as Microsoft Exchange.
If using shared contacts in the Web Client Address Book, and attempting to use the Exchange public contacts, the shared contacts may need to be removed in order for the Exchange public contacts dropdown to be viewed.
Solution #1
When adding a new Public Contacts folder and using Exchange 2003/2007 (GFI FaxMaker Configuration > Advanced > Public Contacts) a wizard will be launched that prompts you to create a new Profile. If the Wizard is not launched, then this means that a Profile exists. Otherwise,
- From Programs, open the GFI FaxMaker Configuration, expand the Advanced node, select Public Contacts and select Properties on the right.
- Select Enable Exchange Public Contacts retrieval.
- Select MAPI Exchange 2003/2007 and launch the wizard.
- When complete, click on the Test button. If this generates a Profile not found error, then you have to re-create the profile. Before recreating the profile, ensure to delete the profile key, if any. This can be done as follows:
- Open Regedit.
- Browse to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem
- Delete the Profile key.
- Open Regedit.
Solution #2
- From Programs, open the GFI FaxMaker Configuration, expand the Advanced node, select Public Contacts and select Properties on the right.
- Select Enable Exchange Public Contacts retrieval.
- Select Web Services Exchange 2010 or newer and select configure.
- In the Web Services pop up you can select auto discover or the server details manually.
- Enter an email address and select Discover.
- Once the server details are shown, select OK.
Confirmation
After using one or both of the solutions above, the Exchange public contacts dropdown will be visible for users in the Web Client Address Book.
