When reviewing a FaxMaker installation that you did not setup, especially if it is not working, knowing who owns or manages the fax numbers is important to understanding the current setup. This article provides information about fax number management used with the on-premise version of FaxMaker.

When on-premise FaxMaker is used in conjunction with EtherFAX or FaxMaker online as a fax service account, the fax numbers used are managed by GFI. If a number was ported to either service, that number is owned by the customer but managed by the carrier used by the fax service.
When on-premise FaxMaker is used with an on-premise fax device will be using fax numbers provided by the customer through their PBX, phone system or carrier directly. The customer or the carrier manages these lines and is responsible for them.
