Overview

The purpose of this article is to provide information about using Microsoft Word documents for faxing but Microsoft Word cannot be installed on the FaxMaker server for document conversion.  This will be noticed when sending faxes with Microsoft Word attachments and receiving 1701 Document Conversion errors in the transmission report.  

Environment

Any FaxMaker installation where Microsoft Word files are required to be faxed. 

Solution

FaxMaker requires Microsoft Word to be installed on the fax server in order to convert the Microsoft Word documents for fax transmission.  

When this occurs it is best to save the Microsoft Word documents in a .pdf format.  Once saved in .pdf format, the files can then be sent as fax information as FaxMaker can convert .pdf files without any external programs or applications as additional requirements.
