Creating a new SQL archiving database with the same name

Overview

You may need to create a new SQL archive database for FaxMaker, and you would like to keep the same name you currently have, because of reports that reference this database by name.

You intend to move the current database to an alternate location and then create a new database with the same name.

Solution

Asf you are already using SQL Server for archiving:

  1. Disable Archiving in FaxMaker.
  2. Detach the database from SQL.
  3. Follow the instructions on Creating a Blank SQL Database for GFI FaxMaker Archiving and create a new database with the same name.

This should not cause any issues, but the data in the previous database will no longer be accessible.
