Overview

This article provides a list of fax devices that are supported by FaxMaker to be used in a virtual environment.  It will also explain that FaxMaker does not support a physical device, such as a fax modem, in a virtual environment.  This could lead to faxes not working when using a physical device in a virtual server.

Any virtualized FaxMaker installation.

Information

FaxMaker can be installed in any virtual environment as long as the system requirements are met.  

• Online Fax Services:

  •  Example: etherFAX, GFI Online Fax Service.
    
    

• Fax Over IP (FOIP):

  •  Example:  XCAPI, Dialogic Brooktrout SR140.

FaxMaker does not support the use of physical devices with virtual machine servers.  This does not mean it will not work as many are able to map a COM port through a hypervisor to an individual server.  It is not supported by GFI Support because in our testing with various physical fax devices and hypervisors, the results were inconsistent in having a successful outcome.
