This article gives system requirements for installing GFI Directory.  Before installing GFI Directory, ensure that the system meets or exceeds the below requirements. If these requirements are not met, you may encounter problems during installation or in functionality.

Processor

Requirement	Description
Minimum	Intel Pentium or compatible - 2GHz 32 bit processor.
Recommended	x64 architecture-based server with Intel 64 architecture or AMD64 platform.

 

Memory

Requirement	Description
Minimum	1GB RAM (dedicated to GFI Directory).
Recommended	3GB RAM (dedicated to GFI Directory).

 

Physical Storage

Requirement	Description
Minimum	400MB physical disk space (NTFS) for GFI Directory installation.
Recommended	1GB physical disk space.

Install GFI Directory on any of the 32-bit or 64-bit versions of the operating systems listed below.

Other Required Software

The installer automatically downloads and install all the missing components when a Internet connection is available.

Component	Environment
Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS)	Required when installing GFI Directory on Microsoft Windows Windows® 7 or later. When installing on a Windows 7 machine without internet access, download AD LDS from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14683.
Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM)	Required only when installing GFI Directory on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. When no internet access is available, download it from: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=4201.
Microsoft® .NET Framework 4 or over	When no internet access is available, download .NET Framework 4.5 from: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653. NOTES Microsoft .NET® Framework 4.5 is not supported on Microsoft Server 2003. Installation of Microsoft .NET® Framework 4.0 or 4.5 requires a machine restart.
Internet Information Services (IIS®) 6.0 or later	Required to access the GFI Directory web interface.
ASP.NET® 4.0 or 4.5	Component used to display the GFI Directory web interface. For further information check the How can I register ASP.NET with my IIS Web Server? article.
Microsoft® Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.6 or higher.	Required to access the GFI Directory data store.

 

 

Backup Software

Backup software can cause GFI Directory to malfunction if GFI Directory is denied access to some of its files.

 

 

Antivirus Software

Anti-virus software causes GFI Directory to malfunction if GFI Directory is denied access to some of its files. Add an anti-virus exclusion that prevents the anti-virus engine from scanning the GFI Directory installation folder.

 

 

Firewall Settings

Configure your firewall to allow connections from the GFI Directory server on the following ports:

389 & 636	UDP & TCP	Port used for LDAP queries.
61000	TCP	Use for communication with GFI MailEssentials.
