Overview
The purpose of this article is to give information about replacing your current fax device.
Environment
Any FaxMaker installation.
Information
When replacing your fax device, there are a couple of things to consider:
- How the fax device connects to the fax server
- How the fax device communicates with the PSTN (Publically Switched Telephone Network)
How the fax device connects to the fax server
You will need to determine how the current device connects to the fax server (USB, PCI slot, PCI-E slot, etc...) and what is available on the server for the new fax device to connect.
How the fax device communicates with the PSTN
Unless you are changing any of the infrastructure in your network, you will want the fax protocol used to remain the same. For example, if you were a fax card/device with a T1 interface to connect, then you will want to replace the current device with another fax card/device with the same interface and protocols.
If you are considering changing your network environment then any of the fax devices supported by Faxmaker will be available for you.
Confirmation
Using the information above, you will be able to replace your current fax device/card with another of the same line interface type even if by a different manufacturer and model.
