Troubleshooting the Message Transfer Agent (MTA) service issues

Learn the steps to troubleshoot issues related to FaxMaker's Message Transfer Agent (MTA) service.

Remove items from the monitored folder

Go to the folder monitored by the MTA service:

  • The FaxMaker\SinkDrop folder.

Remove the items from this folder, as sometimes bad files can prevent the service startup.

Try to start the service. 

Check the MTA service log file

The default log file name for the Message Transfer Agent service is fmmta.gfi_log.txt.  Refer to the article about The Message Transfer Agent Service Debug Log File for more information about its location, attributes, and details.

If the service is still not starting, check the fmmta.gfi_log.txt file for errors.
