LDAP Query and Registry Path of FaxMaker Services

Overview

This article provides information about the LDAP query and Windows Registry path of the FaxMaker Services.

Information

LDAP Query

The LDAP query is made to verify whether:

  • The AD (Account Domain) user account exists.
  • The AD account is active (not locked, or disabled).
  • The AD account's SID matches the email address being used.
  • The SID matches the SID that GFI FaxMaker has stored in its internal list of "Licensed Users".

FaxMaker Services

The screenshot below shows the services in the services.msc.

  • GFI FaxMaker Attendant
  • GFI FaxMaker Fax Server
  • GFI FaxMaker Message Transport

The details of the service account can be found under the Log On tab. You can reset the password, depending on the domain requirements.

After installation and the post-install configuration wizard, all 3 services should be running.

Registry Path

The Windows Registry paths for the services are:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet001\Services\
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet002\Services\

When making any changes or removing services, it is recommended to check all the Windows registry locations. Services in the Windows Registry:
