Overview

When trying to add a new fax number to a DID or other routing route, you are unable to because it uses the same last four digits as an already existing route.  This article addresses this issue and gives instructions to resolve it.  

 

Diagnosis

Using DID as an example below

When using a number smaller than the full range of your DID digits ( your full range of digits is 10 but you are using 4 for your routing rules ) and you run across numbers that have the same last 4 digits.  

Example:

• Number 1234567890 is using 7890 as a DID route in the FaxMaker Configuration
• You want to add number 6543217890, but you cannot as 7890 is being used currently.

Solution

In order to resolve this and be able to use both numbers, you would have to increase the number of DID digits being used for each routing rule.  It could be increased to 5 or 7 or even 10 to be as certain as possible this cannot happen again.  

1. Choose the Number of DID digits you would like to use.  
2. Use the Changing the Number DTMF/DID digits captured article to change to the number of DID digits you decided on previous step.
3. Once the digits have been changed to the required number you can take a backup of the routing rules using the final process of the Configuring DID/DTMF routing article.  

 

Confirmation

Once complete, test with the new routing configuration with inbound faxes set for specific users and ensure they arrive at the correct destination.
