Handshaking Errors and Calls Not Answered When Using Multitech Devices

Overview

The purpose of this article is to provide a solution when users experience handshaking errors and calls not being answered when using Multitech devices.

 

 

Environment

Any FaxMaker installation using a Multitech analog modem as a fax device.  

 

 

Solution

This solution was discovered via testing by Technical Support on live environments and may not apply to all Multitech models.

  1. From Programs, open the FaxMaker Configuration.

  2. Select Lines/Devices then select Properties.

  3. Select the first line/modem then click Properties.

  4.  On the Modem tab, Change the Rings until answer to 1.

  5. Also on the Modem tab, select Advanced Modem Options and select Edit modem from the dropdown.

  6. Change the following values:
    • Class: 1/1.0
    • DLE Code Method: Indirect(flow)
    • Data Initialization String: AT&F&K3

  7. Click OK.

  8. Select the Line Options tab and set the Max speed to 14400 and click OK.

  9. Repeat steps 3 - 8 for each line on which you would like to change the settings.  

  10. Close the Lines/Devices properties box and select yes when requested to restart the FaxMaker fax server service.  

  11. Close the FaxMaker Configuration

 

Confirmation

After completing the steps above monitor the faxes by Logging into the FaxMaker Web Interface and Using the FaxMaker Monitor to ensure calls are answered and faxes are being completed.
